Meningie Garden Club

Meetings are held in private homes generally every 2nd Monday of each month at 1.30 pm (except January)

We usually have a trading table of plant cuttings, preserves and jams etc which helps financially both the club and member

We visit various gardens of interest when and where possible and have this past year organised separate afternoons with two guest speakers in regard to geraniums, native plants and others that have survived well despite water restrictions and hot weather.

We organise the garden section of the Meningie Show with displays of single blooms (anywhere from 300 upwards) fruit and vegetable section and floral art entered by members of the community. The show is held on the first Sunday in November.

We support at lease on charitable cause per year and prune the many rose bushes at Jallarah Homes, generally in July

Home gardeners and business establishments are encouraged to be involved in a "best garden" scheme with categories changing annually and certificates presented to the winners at the Meningie Show

We have been involved for many years now with the provision of small floral arrangements and posies for female patients and residents at the hospital, made by members

We have also assisted with plantings and the subsequent beautification of the local cemetery

New members are welcome. The Annual General Meeting is held in May and is usually in the form of a pooled luncheon beforehand
